Why is
research so important?
Research is never a simple thing when it comes to business
start-up, planning, development and continuity or survival.
The age of today’s economy has made information the most
important asset of any single enterprise in the world,
therefore the decision to conduct a research should not be
taken frivolously. Indeed it is an expensive and time
consuming process, however, not doing a proper business
analysis can be more expensive in a sense that the poor
decisions a corporation may make could cost the business to
collapse.
For
today’s business world, conducting a research is a good
business practice. If every company examines the existing
successful businesses of today, they will find that these
companies did not go into a new business venture without
first thoroughly examining all of the issues and assessing
the probability of business success.
The
benefits a corporation can obtain by conducting corporate
research are the following:
·
Evaluating alternatives
· Gives focus to the project and outline alternatives.
· Narrows business alternatives.
· Surfaces new opportunities through the investigative
process.
· Result and conclusion
· Helps to increase investment in the company.
· Provides documentation that the business venture was
thoroughly investigated.
· Go ahead or not go decision
· Identifies reasons not to proceed.
· Enhances the probability of success by addressing and
mitigating factors early on that could affect the project.
· Provides quality information for decision making.
· Helps in securing funding from lending institutions and
other sources
Most
modern corporations embark on research undertakings long
before they make new moves such as restructuring,
re-investments, divestments, acquisition, merger, strategic
alliance, etc.
